Today for my healthkick, I have had a very gorgeous smoothie which was reduced in the co-op.
It has 5 oranges, 3.5 apples, 2 mangoes 1 banana and 4 passionfruits, all stuffed in a very very highly pressurised bottle and tastes delicious.
Why, with their hideous human rights abuses, body destroying chemicals, teeth-rotting sugar, and lack of fruity goodness, does anyone drink Coca-Cola?
I also have fairtrade bananas, and a sandwhich which wasn't particularly good for me but best of a bad bunch for a Ben in a hurry.
Also, on a computer geekery note, does anyone know of an easy way, if you have a process already running in the background in bash, to say "keep on running process 123 even if I log out or my ssh connection drops". I have a several hour experiment running, and I don't know how to do it. I can't do a nohup command easily...

But caffeine comes from tea
Which is again about 1 tenth of the price, and if you use enough Kenyan to stand a spoon up in it, about 100 times the caffeine.January 31 2006, 15:29:24 UTC 6 years ago
Re: But caffeine comes from tea
Yes, but Coca-Cola (and other related drinks) combine vast quantities of sugar with caffeine and lots of dissolved CO2...Although I have to say that your smoothies do sound rather good. Now I just need to get myself one of those blender things.

Hum, not sure. Is it already running? If not, you could get the right effect using
screen(1)(and I think you need to start the program with nohup to use that). If not, I don't know how to help, but I bet there is a way. Sorry.January 31 2006, 16:38:51 UTC 6 years ago
I quite agree, but feel that I should point out that said smoothie will have done nothing good for your teeth either, in fact may well have rotted them more due to acid content.
Nonetheless, vitamins are very Good Things. Tis a good start for a health kick. I found a recipe for Vegan Fruity Pancakes online if you want it...

"The fruit bowl is a noble thing. Down the ages, artists have struggled with its form and shape. The greats have all had a go - Picasso, Cezanne and even my mum, back in 1978 when she was doing that evening class at sixth form college. Sadly we don't see what all the fuss is about. We would much rather take the contents of the bowl, crush it all up and stick it in a bottle. Some may call us Philistines, but we think of it as modern art; a kind of post-modern take on the futility of hanging from a tree. Deep, man."
